In this chapter briefly describes available water resources, water demand, and main climate conditions in Mediterranean area; then it refers of the pathways to create a reliable chain from GCMs to hydrological model and what are the bottlenecks and the sourrces of uncertainty for the chain. The comparison of downscaling aproaches reportts that no general rule can be drawn, but these approaches must be tuned to the particular catchment and application.
