Abstract

In this paper we review the rationale and the outcomes of a new way of thinking we have recently introduced for solving inverse scattering problems, that is the `virtual experiments' framework. Such a kind of experiments allows us to derive three powerful inversion approaches for the overcoming of some intrinsic difficulties of the problem. Their effectiveness is demonstrated by means of some numerical examples.
