This document reports on the results of feasibility studies for a JET ECRH system, requested by the 39th EFDA Steering Committee and carried out in the form of a project from April to October 2009. Both physics studies, aiming at a definition of the basic parameters of the system (wave frequency, launching geometry, power required), and exploration of the main technical options (wave generation and transmission, antenna design, power supply, auxiliaries, layout and port allocation, control systems, diagnostics) are reported. Estimates of cost, time schedule, manpower and risks are given.

Abstract

This document reports on the results of feasibility studies for a JET ECRH system, requested by the 39th EFDA Steering Committee and carried out in the form of a project from April to October 2009. Both physics studies, aiming at a definition of the basic parameters of the system (wave frequency, launching geometry, power required), and exploration of the main technical options (wave generation and transmission, antenna design, power supply, auxiliaries, layout and port allocation, control systems, diagnostics) are reported. Estimates of cost, time schedule, manpower and risks are given.
