A regional frequency analysis based on partial duration series (PDS) has been carried out to update rainfall intensity-duration-frequency (IDF) estimates for Calabria (Italy). The PDS model applied herein assumes independent peaks and a Poisson-distributed number of threshold exceedances, which are assumed to follow a generalized Pareto (GPA) distributed. Threshold determination, delineation of homogeneous regions, goodness-of-fit testing, and estimation of distribution parameters using L-moments are discussed. The presented results are part of the report on the activities carried out in the research project POR-Calabria 2000-2006: Pericolosità legata ai fenomeni di intensa erosione idrica areale e lineare.
