The primary goal of this project has been to develop new prototype retrieval algorithms using advanced SAR data for the combined retrieval of vegetation and soil parameters. The approach is based on a thorough understanding of the interactions of the electromagnetic waves with the target. Forward models, related development, and model inversion are key elements of the study. A specific focus of the study has been on the exploitation of the ENVISAT ASAR configuration with its various acquisition modes.
