The project will use a multi-method approach to investigate the slow city movement and its effectiveness in terms of the performances, success levels and perspectives of different stakeholders of the slow cities and slow city movement. This multi-method approach will be based on the data retrieved by the desktop analysis and the field survey by means of observation and questionnaire interviews. The project will have many important results and benefits: The project will provide a better understanding of the “slowness” philosophy in an urban context and whether this philosophy can be an alternative strategy to urban development. As slow cities have received limited attention in the urban affaires literature the results of the project will have important contributions to the urban affaires literature scientifically. As the project aims to compare and evaluate the performances of slow cities in different countries, this comparative evaluation will provide many benefits to the partner countries to further develop some strategies for the development of slow cities and also to expand this network and movement to other cities. However, the main benefits of the project will be to develop an alternative strategy for urban development in order to overcome the problems related to fast urbanization and its negative impacts.
