The purpose of the present task was the production and characterization of reinforced UHTCs based on ZrB2, containing 15vol% of SiC chopped fibers and different sintering aids, namely Si3N4, ZrSi2, MoSi2 and WSi2. The composites characterization included the following: - measurement of density, -microstructural analysis by SEM-EDS and XRD, -fracture toughness, -thermal shock resistance, -machining effect, -oxidation resistance, -flexural strength at room temperature and at 1500°C, -thermal expansion, -elastic modulus, -thermal conductivity
