This report gives a complete description of measurement methodology, the instrumentation, the techniques for sound recording, audio signal conditioning and optimal de-noising, requisite for the correct implementation of acoustic quadraphony. This way the audio merits and current limitations of acoustic quadraphony will be demonstrated. To this aim Sect. 1. will review the entire methodology for quad sound recording while Section 2 reports about the quality and actual performance of algorithms designed specifically for audio enhancement of the intensimetric USP from Microflown?. Section 3 illustrates instead the state of the art of electronic technology which could be used for the hardware implementation both of quad recording process and intensimetric control of quad sound playback. Finally the acoustic-mathematical model that will serve in the near future as a reference guide for the 3-D implementation of intensimetric active control is reported as an appendix.
