In Gigli (2001) some methods regarding the estimation of incidence and survival models for cancer data were illustrated. In Gigli and Simonetti (2002) these methods were applied to data collected by the SEER9 registries in the US. Such estimates were used to estimate complete prevalence, as described in Gigli (2001). In this paper the estimation of the complete prevalence for 20 most common cancer sites is validated via graphical methods and numerical tests. The paper is organized as follows: section 1 introduces the problem; data and definitions are described in section 2; section 3 illustrates graphical methods and numerical tests used to validate the estimates; section 4 comments the results obtained; the appendix contains the plots for each cancer site, sex and race/ethnicity (all races/ethnicities, whites).
