The Euclid project RTP 10.14 "HULLOPT: Optimal Techniques for Hull Geometry" is broken down into several experimental and numerical work packages, or tasks. Three experimental task EWP1 [1], EWP2 [2] and EWP3 [8] have been completed, as well as three numerical tasks NWP1 [3], NWP2 [4] and NWP3 [7]. This report summarises the conduct and findings of the third work package, WP3. For the scope of optimisation, two alternatives were indicated by the Management Group at the fifth consortium meeting held at QinetiQ in March 2002, and the choice has been finalised in April 2002. Model Ag optimized by INSEAN (Agr1) and ITU (Agr2) have been selected for experimental verification in the towing tanks, to be conducted in the EWP3 task. The participatings IE are: Istituto Nazionale di Studi ed Esperienze di Architettura Navale (INSEAN), National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Istanbul Technical University (ITU), and QinetiQ. Each partner has been required to provide experimental data for the assigned AgrX model, and subsequently evaluate the obtined results. WP3 will be considered successfully if experimental relevance from EWP3 confirms the trends of the numerical calculations phase NWP3.
