This document provides comments on the energy efficiency related draft amendments to MARPOL Annex VI aiming at a smooth adoption and implementation of EEDI requirements with regard to standard ship types, for which the concept has achieved a sufficient level of maturity. Furthermore, concerns are presented regarding the large scatter and bad correlation of the reference line values for general cargo ships and the extreme variety of highly specialized dry cargo ships, which are summarized under this definition.
