It proposes some applications concerning with Reusable Launch type Vehicles (RLV) where Smart materials based on Shape Memory Alloys (SMA) may be successfully integrated into the RLV design. A set of applications are proposed and herein discussed; among them, one is selected for the further design of a hypersonic adaptive wing able to change its curvature passing throughout the different flight phases of a mission profile typical of unmanned space vehicles (USVs). Abstract

This document is written in fulfilment of the activities concerning with the Research Project 'AHW', funded by Italian 'Ministero dell'Istruzione, dell' Università e della Ricerca' MIUR, in the framework of the National Aerospace Research Program (PRORA). This report represents the 'AHW' Project Deliverable N.2.
