In the reference period, the MHP single droplet combustion chamber has been modified to reach a working pressure of 60 bar. By using the modified MHP-SDCC a systematic experimentation has been carried out on pure BFO droplets. The experimentation was performed as a function of chamber pressure (ranging between 1 and 60 bar) and droplets size (D0 = 425 ?m - 1000 ?m). Increasing the pressure, peculiar differences regarding swelling-microexplosion, vaporization-liquid phase pyrolysis, ignition and cenosphere formation were observed.

Abstract

In the reference period, the MHP single droplet combustion chamber has been modified to reach a working pressure of 60 bar. By using the modified MHP-SDCC a systematic experimentation has been carried out on pure BFO droplets. The experimentation was performed as a function of chamber pressure (ranging between 1 and 60 bar) and droplets size (D0 = 425 ?m - 1000 ?m). Increasing the pressure, peculiar differences regarding swelling-microexplosion, vaporization-liquid phase pyrolysis, ignition and cenosphere formation were observed.
