Procedures for collecting data and information on the reproductive biology of target species taken during trawl surveys implemented in the framework of the new Italian Fishing Plan and the FAO MedSudMed Project is proposed. These procedures cover sampling, sexdetermination, analysis of gravimetric indexes, and the identification of the maturation stage of individual organisms. The maturation stage is assessed through a macroscopic examination of the reproductive system and a synoptic scale is presented for bony and cartilaginous fishes, crustaceans and cephalopods.

Abstract
Procedures for collecting data and information on the reproductive biology of target species taken during trawl surveys implemented in the framework of the new Italian Fishing Plan and the FAO MedSudMed Project is proposed. These procedures cover sampling, sexdetermination, analysis of gravimetric indexes, and the identification of the maturation stage of individual organisms. The maturation stage is assessed through a macroscopic examination of the reproductive system and a synoptic scale is presented for bony and cartilaginous fishes, crustaceans and cephalopods.File in questo prodotto:
