This report presents the results of the test programme performed on the sailing yacht model C.2491 (TH41A), 1:3 scale, of the America's Cup Class (ACC), in order to determine hydrodynamic characteristics in calm water towing conditions. The model belongs to a group of model hulls tested to evaluate some new yacht designs of Luna Rossa Challenge for the America's Cup 2007. The model is fitted with standard appendages. The experimental technique used is the so called partially restrained model. The model is free to heave and pitch. The tests carried out consisted of a test matrix of appended upright tests to determine the running qualities of the yacht. Side forces and resistance measurements over a wide matrix of heel and yaw angles are necessary to determine the upwind performance of the yacht and the upwind velocity-made-good "Vmg". The programme includes heeled unyawed tests, heeled yawed tests and unappended tests. Repeated tests are performed to evaluate the reliability and repeatability of the measurements.

Abstract
Repeated tests are performed to evaluate the reliability and repeatability of the measurements.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
