This technical report discusses how a protocol to transport MODBUS frames over a Controller Area Network (CAN) has been designed and implemented. Chapter 1 briefly recalls the internal structure of the MODBUS master and slave protocol stacks adopted as a starting point for the implementation. Then, Chapter 2 presents the protocol design. Chapter 3 lists the known implementation limits and how they have been addressed.
