This document describes the overall system design of KYOTO. The goal of the KYOTO project (ICT-211423) is to develop an information and knowledge sharing system that relates text in various languages to a shared ontology in such a way that it enables the extraction of deep semantic relations and facts from text in a domain. The system should establish communication and interpretation across languages and cultures and it should support building and maintaining the system by groups of people in a shared domain and area of interest.
