The results of the test programme performed on the sailing yacht 1:3 scale model C.2441, of the America's Cup Class (ACC) are presented. The tests were performed to determine the TH21B sailing yacht hydrodynamic characteristics in calm water towing conditions. The model belongs to the latest generation of hulls designed for the America's Cup 2003 PRADA Challenge, in order to choose the best hull to race. The experimental technique used is the so called partially restrained model. The model is free to heave and pitch, but restrained in the other motions. The test programme on the model fitted with the mobile standard appendages includes Appended Upright Tests, a reduced matrix of Appended Heeled and Yawed Tests with trim variation and Unappended Tests. Since the ultimate goal is to produce a performance merit list among hulls and/or configurations even with small mutual differences in shape, the accuracy of the experiment also reached values up to 0.5%.

Abstract
Since the ultimate goal is to produce a performance merit list among hulls and/or configurations even with small mutual differences in shape, the accuracy of the experiment also reached values up to 0.5%.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
