ERCIM (the European Research Consortium for Informatics and Mathematics) celebrated its twenty-fifth anniversary in Italy: in particular, the anniversary and the ERCIM fall meetings were held in Pisa, at the CNR Campus (Italian National Research Council), last October 2014. On this special occasion, a special session and panel discussion was held in the auditorium of the CNR Campus: speakers and representatives from research, industry, the European Commission, and the ERCIM community were invited to present their views on research and future developments in information and communication science and technology. ERCIM aims to foster collaborative work within the European research community and to increase co-operation with European industry. Leading European research institutes are members of ERCIM. The Institute for Informatics and Telemathics of the CNR is one of the members of the Consortium
