The present work represents the first attempt to apply mathematical and statistical methods to the analysis of a well-defined class of archaeological objects: the Etruscan bronze mirrors. The results achieved through the application of descriptive statistical techniques (Frequency analysis, Crosstabulations) and multivariate analysis techniques (Principal Component Analysis, Discriminant Analysis) have provided the basis for quantitatively determined evaluations. The survey, conducted on a corpus of data consisting of nearly 900 mirrors, has as its prominent object iconographic and stylistic aspects, which traditionally have been less frequently studied through the application of quantitative analysis techniques.

Abstract
The present work represents the first attempt to apply mathematical and statistical methods to the analysis of a well-defined class of archaeological objects: the Etruscan bronze mirrors. The results achieved through the application of descriptive statistical techniques (Frequency analysis, Crosstabulations) and multivariate analysis techniques (Principal Component Analysis, Discriminant Analysis) have provided the basis for quantitatively determined evaluations. The survey, conducted on a corpus of data consisting of nearly 900 mirrors, has as its prominent object iconographic and stylistic aspects, which traditionally have been less frequently studied through the application of quantitative analysis techniques.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
