This report is aimed at evaluating the internal flow field of the suction and filtering intake of the main hydraulic supply circuit of New Holland Tractor TM80. Computational Fluid Dynamics is the tool chosen to conceive a procedure which, starting from a series of preliminary investigations on the experimental side, allows the iteration from the drafting phase to the design process in a concurrent CAE environment. It is understood by both parties that the activity undertaken is on the wavefront of existing technologies and numerical techniques, and that the amount of uncertainties in the model management process strongly affects the reliability of results. They should therefore be considered as a semi-quantitative estimate of the physical phenomena, in order to catch general trends and to establish a consolidated engineering practice for future investigations
