The present report is part of the technical documentation of the PRIAMO project(Propeller-Rudder Interaction Analysis and MOdelling) and is focused on the application of a comprehensive propeller/rudder hydrodynamics modelling tool to the optimization of a representative configuration. In details, aim of the report is to define a twisted rudder characterized by a reduced risk of cavitation and erosion with respect to the baseline configuration. To this purpose, a design procedure that, stemming from the knowledge of propeller induced velocity field upon the rudder surface, can determine a spanwise twist law capable of reducing the detrimental effects due to cavitation, is developed and applied.

Abstract
The present report is part of the technical documentation of the PRIAMO project(Propeller-Rudder Interaction Analysis and MOdelling) and is focused on the application of a comprehensive propeller/rudder hydrodynamics modelling tool to the optimization of a representative configuration. In details, aim of the report is to define a twisted rudder characterized by a reduced risk of cavitation and erosion with respect to the baseline configuration. To this purpose, a design procedure that, stemming from the knowledge of propeller induced velocity field upon the rudder surface, can determine a spanwise twist law capable of reducing the detrimental effects due to cavitation, is developed and applied.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
