We consider here the problem of constructing a matrix-valued proper rational interpolating function from a given set of data of a tangential interpolation problem. We show how the coprime poly- nomial factorization of solutions to this problem are tightly connected to the controllability indexes of a pair (A, [U, V ]) associated to the in- terpolation data and that coprimeness of these factorizations is guar- anteed by a simple condition on the eigenvectors of A.

Abstract
