The report has two Sections. Section 1. is dedicated to the description and validation of alternative techniques for Phase Noise Correction / Suppression (PNC / PNS), highlighting how "decision directed (DD) techniques" may be effective to enhance the system performance with an appropriate strategy for selecting the symbols to be used in the phase estimation. Section 2. presents the results obtained for systems characterized by the use of double polarization, i.e. vertical and horizontal, where the correction of phase noise is complicated by the reciprocal interference between the two channels. Different schemes operating the estimation and correction processes are considered and simulated. Th last Subsection is dedicated to the presentation of all the numerical results.
