The document at hand describes the requirements towards the development of the conceptual Virtual Factory Framework (VFF) to realize the next-generation virtual factory that is able to effectively support the design and the management of the real factories. The document consists of the output provided by the tasks T1.1 and T1.2 of WP1 "Virtual Factory Framework Concept". Herein the conceptual foundation of the VFF approach is described, thus laying the basis for all the other work packages (WPs 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7) that will benefit from these specifications.
