VFF Task 1.3, "Conceptual design of framework pillars", is the starting point for the development activities, since the main objective is sketching the overall framework, defining the overall requirements of the four pillars at the foundation of the VFF, and thus laying the bases for the work of the WP2, WP3, WP4 and WP5. This document wants to be a high level definition of the functional specifications of the VFF framework, identifying the pillars structures and interactions from a software point of view, in order to start the implementation WPs with a clear and reliable picture of the final result. The results here described have been pursued by analyzing different deployment scenarios and use cases, as well as the results of the Task 1.1 concerning the modules survey. Nevertheless, only the final chosen implementation strategy will be hereby described since the present deliverable wants to be a clear reference design document more than a history on the possible (and discarded) hypotheses. The document starts with an introductive overview of the proposed architecture that can be used as a reference guideline for the reading of the following chapters which are particularly dedicated to each one of the four pillars and their mutual interactions.
