We present the new r.slopeunits software for the automatic delineation of SU, given a DEM and a set of user-defined input parameters. We tested the software and the optimization approach in a large area of Central Italy, where terrain, landslides, and geo-environmental information was available. We expectr r.slopeunits to be used to partition the terrain in different morphological settings, for the preparation of reliable, reproducible and robust LS models and associated zonations.
