The goal of this work was to verify the E RID structure design , i.e. to confirm the successful performance of the supporting structure holding the E RID components under operation and seismic conditions . The RID has two electric charged panels , which have to be isolated . T hese isolator components not just isolate the se panels, but additionally carry their weight, making their operation critical , since these are ceramic materials and have to operate avoid ing high tension stresses . Thanks to the analyses carried out within the previous WP2013, the design of the BSE support bars and of the standoff insulators was optimized , as it was found that the previous configuration of the isolators was producing high stresses on them. The structural and seismic verifications were performed by a simplified model of the E RID , by replacing the BSE p anels for 2D planes and using joint conditions to the structure. As result it can be seen that the loads , on the steel frame and on the isolators , produce very low stresses giv ing a large safety margin.
