History of building construction since medieval times in the Euro Mediterranean region

Over the last forty years, the research on the topic has been developed especially in central Europe, as in England, France, Germany and Switzerland A new cognitive model has gradually asserted which has established the observation point within the phenomenon, that is, in concrete aspects of building, such as the economic environment, the stages and processes related to the concrete construction In particular, thanks to the collection of ? reports relating to the episcopal and monastic construction sites and their leaders (principals and architects), ? images of construction sites, ? building projects, ? the analysis on site it is possible to reconstruct the proper historical context, highlighting the complexity of the entire work process, which is a key element for the understanding of the architectural artifact In this perspective the lesson will deepen the following series of themes: ? the social environment, the financial, administrative and organizational aspects of building sites ? the role of the architect in the design and planning, the role of the other typologies of workers ? the building materials (stone, wood ...) and some building techniques
