Serious Games have captured the interest of educationalists as they are considered to be a highly motivating form of supplementary learning both in the educational and industrial sectors. If serious games are to be accepted as a recognised approach for education and training it is highly important to ascertain exactly how and to what extent they have been integrated into educational processes. This paper will present an extensive meta-analysis of the use of serious games in educational processes at different levels of the curriculum to provide an overview of the empirical evidence associated with the integration of computer games in educational processes. A number of studies will be presented detailing our work in the area of serious games including: studies performed at Primary Education (PE) and Tertiary Education, surveys performed determining teacher and student views and motivations associated with the integration of games into educational processes and literature reviews detailing the empirical evidence associated with the use of games in education and finally the formation of a model/framework for the integration of assessment into games for educational purposes. The study will detail a second qualitative meta-analysis currently being developed in the specifically in the area of Primary Education and will identify research and collaborative possibilities within the GaLA Network for Excellence.
