During 2014 , a first proposal of direct measure ment of loal temperature and power deposition on accelerator grids was developed by RFX. A commercially - available thermal measurement system, based on fibreoptics and GaAs crystals has been considered because of its small dimensions and suitability to oper ate in high - voltage conditions with good electromagnetic interference immunity . The system is produced by a canadian company (OpSens) and has already been used for temperature monitoring in high - voltage oil - insulated power transformers. C ommerical - grade va cuum - compatible fibreoptics can be used for the measurements and It seems possible to wrap the fibreoptic around accelerator support insulators and to keep all the signal - conditioning at ground potential outside the accelerator vacuum vessel. The temperatu re - sensistive crystal is suitable to be used in MITICA.
