COST Action IS1105 - Marsafenet "NETwork of experts on the legal aspects of MARitime SAFEty and security" (Short Term Scientific Missions Coordinator)

MARSAFENET - the acronym for NETwork of experts on the legal aspects of MARitimeSAFEty and security - is a COST Action which aims to bring together experts in international law of the sea in order to increase the knowledge on maritime security and safety and to develop a common conceptual and methodological framework with the goal of contributing to fill the legal gaps and of transforming scientific results into feasible solutions. This Cost Action takes an in-depth look at current urgent maritime matters focusing on four main issues, shipping and marine environmental protection, new developments of economic activities at sea, maritime international security and border surveillance and, finally, protection of fragile and semi enclosed seas. Short-Term Scientific Missions (STSMs) are an instrument to promote scientific collaboration between the institutions participating in the MARSAFENET Action. The STSMs Assessment Panel, composed by the Core Group of the Action (Chair, Vice-Chair and WGs Leaders) and the STSMs Coordinator, makes the scientific and budgetary assessment of the STSM proposals and takes the final decision based on the criteria endorsed by the Management Committee.
