The Snow Grain Photo Library is intended to help the identification of crystal shapes of seasonal snow. Photos were taken as an observer looks at the snow to identify the various forms, largely during the 2010 - 2011 scientific expeditions at Ny Ålesund (Svalbard Islands - project PRIN 2009 "ARCTICA") and partly on the Italian Alps (Dolomites). The classification of snow grains used in this project follows the criteria of IASC presented in the International Classification for Seasonal Snow on the Ground (2009)
