Virtual Museum of Archaeological Computing

The Virtual Museum of Archaeological Computing web site in part of a project focused on the "The History of Archaeological Computing" and promoted by the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei (Centro Linceo Interdisciplinare "Beniamino Segre") and the Italian CNR (Istituto di Studi sul Mediterraneo Antico). The idea for this interdisciplinary project was conceived during the international Symposium on "The Birth of Archaeological Computing" held in Rome at the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei in 2008 and was developed and finalised by Paola Moscati with the advice of an international Scientific Committee. The project is carried under the auspices of the Italian Ministero dei Beni e delle Attività Culturali e del Turismo (MiBACT) and supported by the OTEBAC (Osservatorio Tecnologico per i Beni Culturali), which promotes the dissemination of the open-source CMS Museo&Web and MOVIO. Since 2007, the Italian Ministero dell'Istruzione, dell'Università e della Ricerca (MIUR) has co-funded the project among the initiatives for the dissemination of scientific culture (L. 10 gennaio 2000, n.6).
