The overall objective of b2H2 is the construction and operation of a containerized system which generates 50kg/day of hydrogen from biogas at high efficiency and economically competitive cost, i.e. a rigorous proof-of-concept. The demonstration of the system shall take place on a very site of an existing biogas plant. Starting from commercially available hardware and catalysts b2H2 will improve these items and adapt them to the specific requirements of biogas as a feedstock. The choice of the best reforming process as well as the optimizations of system design will be supported by intense modelling and simulation. In parallel, basic research will be pursued on catalysts to find better and more stable ones. On top of these activities detailed analyses of life cycle cost and total cost of ownership are foreseen. The results and achievements will be disseminated by various means as e.g. publications, presentations on conferences and a dedicated project website.
