The WP4 contains tasks related to the automation and optimization in foundry process. The idea to develop a new gripper have not been considered were the project was planned. But, the necessity to improve the place, substituting the actual operations which require great man power, with automation based on robotics has suggested the development of new "smart" solution in order to improve the efficiency and the product quality of foundry production. Considering all this matter the idea to develop a new gripper, characterized by high mechanical efficiency, high reliability and weight reduction have took place.
