FRED is the first and state-of-the-art Open Knowledge Extraction tool for the Semantic Web: its first version is from 2012. FRED is able to extract RDF/OWL graphs from an arbitrary text by integrating the output of multiple natural language processing and entity linking components, formalizing the integration according to ontology design patterns, linked data best practices, and a rigorous semantics. It also deeply annotates the text, so providing a middleware for new generation semantic technology applications.

Abstract

FRED is the first and state-of-the-art Open Knowledge Extraction tool for the Semantic Web: its first version is from 2012. FRED is able to extract RDF/OWL graphs from an arbitrary text by integrating the output of multiple natural language processing and entity linking components, formalizing the integration according to ontology design patterns, linked data best practices, and a rigorous semantics. It also deeply annotates the text, so providing a middleware for new generation semantic technology applications.
