CNR-ISMAR Venice started a new research program aiming to develop a core competency in bio-informatic. The virtual server for bio-applications that we are going to describe is the result of the joint effort amongst researchers and IT staff and put the basis for a new bioinformatics facility in the CNR-ISMAR Venice. Multicores servers, clusters and IT virtualization technologies are essential to address the computational demands of this new research field.
