The present report presents the work performed in 2015 concerning the capabilities of graphite tiles for the tiles of the STRIKE calorimeter. It is shown that with suitable machining even an isotropic material can be adopted as an alternative to carbon - fibre - carbon composite tiles. Thermo - mechanical investigations and diagnostic capabilities were studied. The work is summarised by a Bachelor thesis in Physics and by a paper presented at the ICIS 2015, which are annexed.
