This document contains the work carried out by IEIIT in the framework of the contract "Sistema ad onde elettromagnetiche per il rilevamento del livello di acciaio liquido e polveri lubrificanti in impianti a colata continua: estensione al formato 160mm". The first section contains the design of the cavity sensor for the 160mm casting machine. All the mechanical constraints have been taken into account in the design of the electromagnetic sensor. Its applicability for the detection of both steel and powder level has been proved. An extensive sensitivity analysis has been carried out, the relevant results are shown in section 4. The mechanical drawings are attached at the end of this document as appendix A.
