GREEN PORTS project focuses on production and management of energy from renewable sources in port areas. Many port authorities, in fact, following the recommendation of the European Commission and the European Sea Port Organization started a roadmap to become "Green Ports", by adopting a reduction of Greenhouse Gas emissions policy, a more efficient use of energy and renewable sources. The main objective is to establish a pilot project within the Calabria region, selecting the Port of Crotone as a case study. The aim is to establish a model for the integrated management systems of energy from renewable sources and energy efficiency in the port area, also considering the impacts of the port area on environment. Specifically, the activity concerns the possibility that the motion of the sea waves may supplement other forms of energy, in order to propose an innovative technology for electricity production from clean and renewable sources, by estimating weather-climate and environmental parameters identified in the port area, in order to determine the energy potential in terms of waves, wind and sun. Integrated systems for monitoring, management and control of the electricity distribution network will also be provided, offering as well specific applications for medium and low voltage network, as well as ad hoc analysis and prediction solutions to reduce the energy costs of the case study. With regard to the assessment of the impacts that the port area has on the environment, the project involves the experimental detection of the main pollutants in the area selected for the case study, as well as the geomorphology and climate related characteristics.

Abstract
With regard to the assessment of the impacts that the port area has on the environment, the project involves the experimental detection of the main pollutants in the area selected for the case study, as well as the geomorphology and climate related characteristics.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
