CeO2-based materials have been synthesized, characterized and tested as photocatalysts for water splitting reaction. The partial substitution of Ce ions with transition metals (Fe, La, Co, Cu, Ni, Y) has been evaluated, highlighting the influence of structure, morphology, crystallinity, band gap energy and conductivity. Photocatalysts have been preventively synthesized and characterized at CNR-ITAE (Messina) and then tested at Monash University (Melbourne, Australia) during the STM period.

Abstract
