The main aim of this Life Cycle Assessment Analysis (LCA) study was to assess the environmental impacts of thermal treatment by ThermoVacuum process on spruce and ash boards. Moreover the results obtained were used to understand the environmental impacts of ThermoVacuum timber used as a cladding. Finally, these results were compared with the environmental impacts of a coated cladding. All process were considered from sawn timber supply until cladding construction and its use. At the end of the claddings life cycle, it has been considered that the boards will be used as wood fuel to substitute fire wood in the local heating system. The Ecoindicator 99 was the method selected for Life cycle Impact assessment of the products. The foreground data came from ECW company, and from WDE Maspell and the background data came from the databases embedded in the SimaPro software.
