The project studies the performances of a centrifugal dredging pump with multiphase CFD analysis and is composed of three main parts. The first part of the research focuses on the evaluation of the influence of the dredged material, different as to dimensions and concentration, on the pump's main performances, such as efficiency and total head. The second part aims at designing a new optimised pump used to dredge only water. The final part of the project aims at developing a new design method for centrifugal dredging pumps that is applicable to dredged material with different levels of concentration of the solid part. The method wants to correct the design coefficients found in literature that were developed for dredged water only.
