This work has been carried out within the Justice Partnership Programme in Vietnam, a project co-funded by the European Union, Denmark, and Sweden. This contribution was written following a specific reporting structure, in order to better focus on certain information considered useful for the purpose of drafting a new Code of Criminal Procedure for Vietnam. Therefore, the basic structure is still a technical report, which makes the reading a little harsh, but the goal was to allow a comparison with other case studies that have been drafted within the same project. However, the amount of information is valuable, and it should be of interest to anybody who studies, practices, and, above all, take decides on policy issues in the sphere of criminal procedure law.
