This project (NICOP Research Grant No. N62909-14-1-N046) takes its motivation from the "US Office of Naval Research" (ONR) interest on developing agile, fuel efficient and flexible platforms capable of operating in required environments. These new multihull designs are particularly exposed to slamming loads and subsequent whipping. According to this perspective, the objective of the project has been the investigation of the global and local hydrodynamic loads as well as the elastic responses of a catamaran in rough seas to enhance understanding of the correlation between sea state, applied loads and induced responses up to establish new physically-based models for slamming.

Abstract
This project (NICOP Research Grant No. N62909-14-1-N046) takes its motivation from the "US Office of Naval Research" (ONR) interest on developing agile, fuel efficient and flexible platforms capable of operating in required environments. These new multihull designs are particularly exposed to slamming loads and subsequent whipping. According to this perspective, the objective of the project has been the investigation of the global and local hydrodynamic loads as well as the elastic responses of a catamaran in rough seas to enhance understanding of the correlation between sea state, applied loads and induced responses up to establish new physically-based models for slamming.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
