Research activity on tomato fruits The third year (2016 season) of research activity on tomatoes was focused on the application of the optical sensor calibrated in 2014 and 2015 for the estimate of lycopene to: 1) monitor in the field the average lycopene level of tomatoes before harvest, in order to define the best period of harvest to have the highest content in lycopene. 2) monitor the lycopene level in tomatoes after harvest and during storage. Research activity on cabbage. In 2016, the application of two optical sensors, Dualex and Multiplex, for the non-destructive monitoring of chlorophyll and flavonols in white cabbage has been repeated to confirm data acquired during the two previous seasons (see Sunniva Report 1st year CNR-IFAC and Sunniva Report 2nd year CNR-IFAC).
