The FLEXICAST project is articulated in different Working Programs. One of them is related to Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) in order to have a quantitative indication about the emissions related to the cast iron production. The FLEXICAST project is articulated in different WP. One of them is related to Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) in order to have a quantitative and qualitative indication about the emissions related to the cast iron production. In this WP we have developed the LCA of a generic cast iron foundry, comparing two different scenarios: the first related to a traditional foundry, the second related to the same foundry but considering (where applicable) the innovations developed during Flexicast. In order to develop the LCA as realistic as possible, a base case study have to be developed. In this project we took, as base example, the production cycle of Fundiciones de Roda, but at the same time it is important to underling that we have not performed the LCA of FdR production cycle. The materials flows (see Table 5), the process subdivision (see Figure 1) have been taken from FdR, but the different emissions have been calculated from scientific literature, so the LCA showed in the following page could not be directly related to FdR production, but to a generic cast iron foundry.

Abstract
The materials flows (see Table 5), the process subdivision (see Figure 1) have been taken from FdR, but the different emissions have been calculated from scientific literature, so the LCA showed in the following page could not be directly related to FdR production, but to a generic cast iron foundry.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
