In modern industry, it is required timelines and increasingly stringent quality standards, leading industries to invest more heavily in research and innovation. In this regard, the following work has set itself the goal of activating an automatic machining system for improving safety in a production cell within a particularly tough environment like the grinding of a foundry, trying to meet the needs of productive nature and quality standards to which the company involved in the project is operating. The project, which connects the system developed in collaboration with the Imamoter Institute and ITIA of C.N.R. and the company Fundiciones de RODA, aims to improve working conditions trying to make it as flexible as possible the assembly and disassembly of the tools and working in space by means of a robot. This work was not planned in the Dow and has been performed in terms of man hours and resources to implement outside of those who were the targets of the European project. This system wants to get to replacement of man over the grinding operations with a robot system in order to increase the quality of the work with a further increase on production volumes and, not least, to the neutralization of injuries due to the hardness of the processing.
