The work described in the following describes the Deliverable 3.1 and deals with the production of various ultra-high temperature composites. Materials production has been carried out at CNR-ISTEC in Faenza (RA) and will be characterized in terms of microstructure, thermo-mechanical properties and oxidation behaviour in Deliverable 4.1. This present Deliverable D 3.1 covers the following tasks: WP3:Task 3.1: Compositional design, acquisition and characterization of commercial powders. Task 3.2: Powder Mixtures preparation. Task 3.3: Sintering of dense materials. Task 3.4: Characterization of dense samples. The project was initiated on March 21st 2013. The manuscript of this report was released by the authors in August 2014.
